This is the most prestigious issue for the publication in which writers travel incognito to pick their choices for the best of the world’s hotels, destinations and restaurants.
The highly recognised and difficult to attain recognition comes in the wake of an impressive resurgence in first quarter visitor arrivals to The Bahamas.
Minister of Tourism Obie Wilchombe, who led a delegation to New York to attend a reception in honour of those named to the Hot List, received the news with delight. “Conde Nast is a highly discerning and influential publication. It wields enormous influence over trends and tastes in travel. I am delighted that we have been recognised as a “hot destination” and that several Bahamian properties were also singled out for such recognition.
“As our product offering continues to improve, we are encouraged by this recognition, which is shared by the entire country,” said the minister.
In addition to the destination feature story, a number of Bahamian hotel properties ラ most of them in the Out Islands ラ made the Hot List for hotels, and the magazine will include editorial features on each:
Abaco: Nettie’s Different of Abaco
Andros: Kamalame Cay, Tiamo
Cat Island: Fernandez Bay Village
Exuma: Four Seasons at Emerald Bay, Higgins Landing
Grand Bahama: Old Bahama Bay
Harbour Island: The Landing, Hibiscus Hill, Rock House, Pink Sands, Dunmore
Beach Club, Oceanview Club
Nassau/Paradise Island: Atlantis Resort, Ocean Club, Graycliff, Compass Point,
Little Whale Cay: Little Whale Cay Resort
Conde Nast Traveller has a monthly circulation of 776,106, and is written for readers who travel for business and pleasure to domestic and international destinations. Editorial content ranges from tips on safe travel, to budgeting, to the availability of banking services at each travel destination, as well as suggestions for vacation destinations.
For its fourth annual May Hot List features, the magazine’s editorial staff sifted through the sea of hotels and restaurants that opened in the past year, and called upon a global network of editors and field reporters to visit each property – incognito.
The 36 hotels and resorts on this year’s Hot List encompass 18 countries and five continents.
Conde Nast Traveller stands for “Truth In Travel.” Unlike many other travel publications, Conde Nast Traveller does not accept free travel and accommodations, and its correspondents, as far as possible, travel anonymously. The result, says Conde Nast, “is travel the way consumers experience it good and bad, with reporting that is fair and honest.”
