Christie Lambasted By PLP Stalwarts

Prime Minister perry Christie has been given a ‘roasting’ in a showdown meeting with PLP stalwarts, it was claimed last night.

He was summoned before the party’s long-serving, hardcore members to explain why the government was failing to act on several key concerns.

And the consensus was that the government was falling far short of promises it made before the 2002 general election.

PLP sources claimed last night that the meeting – attended by about 140 “stalwart counsellors – was summoned to tackle growing concern over the government’s alleged ‘lack of action’.

At times the meeting, held at Gambier House, became ‘heated and nasty’ with one woman member, in particular, launching a ‘horrific’ verbal attack on the prime minister, it was claimed.

A party source said it was a face-to-face showdown called by one of the PLP stalwarts, including some prominent old-timers.

“And they were furious because Mr. Christie turned up very late.”

The stalwarts were upset because they feel nothing is happening and that the government is showing no respect for black people. They were determined to confront him with their concerns.

It was claimed Mr. Christie spent too much time talking and not enough time delivering.

“He is now being seen as a caretaker prime minister who is fast losing support on the streets,” said the source.

“Support is slipping away badly and there is now real concern that Mr. Christie is overwhelmed by his office and responsibilities and is unable to hack it.”
