Droves of Junkanoo lovers and those loving at first sight welcomed the Fifth Annual Junkanoo in June festival on saturday at Arawak Cay
The festival, which will be staged every Saturday in June, is known for attracting people from all creeds and backgrounds.
This year that tradition was continued, but with a new strategy by the Ministry of Tourism. It aims to fill the void in what is considered to be a slow month for the country’s tourism industry.
For several months the government has aggressively been re-forming the country’s image as a stopover destination for cruise ship passengers. With this in mind, the Ministry of Tourism is hopeful that the Junkanoo in June festival will provide tourists with night-time entertainment.
