The weekend rape and armed robbery of a family in Yamacraw Beach Estates indicates a trend in home invasions and highlights the increasing crime rates in The Bahamas’ most populated island.
A 65-year-old father sustained minor injuries to the head after being gun butted by one of three men who broke into his home at 3:42 Saturday.
The three men entered the home, two of whom were armed with handguns and the third one with a knife.
The men allegedly raped the wife and daughter then stole $4,000 in cash and a 1993 Honda, license number 115740.
Chief Supt. Marvin Dames said police were looking for a “speedy” resolution to the recent home invasions and are fighting what appears to be a criminal trend.
The incident is not believed to be connected to another home invasion, that also took place this weekend, where a woman was robbed and raped in her home.
