Killing Confession On Videotape

The Supreme Court jury in the murder trial of Sergio Penn on Thursday saw a video-taped confession of the accused admitting to police to the killing of a Canadian woman after having sex with her on the beach.

Corporal Freeman Johnson, a detective formerly attached to Marsh Harbour, said he recorded the police interview and confession of Penn on video with a camcorder on August 22, 2002 at the Marsh Harbour Police Station.

Penn, who was 17 years-old at the time of the murder, was accompanied by chief welfare officer Charlamae Fernander, when he told police during an interview that he chopped and killed 35-year-old Toronto resident Marcia Rose McKenzie with a cutlass when she told him she might have AIDS.

The incident is alleged to have happened on August 17, 2002 at Sandy Point, Abaco.

The case, which is before eight women and four men, is presided over by Justice Stephen Isaacs in Supreme Court One.
