The visitor had left his wallet on the counter at A. Wong & Sons on East Bay Street. That’s when a local reporter walked in – paid for his items, took the wallet and walked out of the store.
The incident was recorded on the store’s spy cameras. Staff chased the man, brought him back to the store and called the police. Cops reportedly found the wallet, containing $500, in a nearby car park. It was returned to the tourist. The police questioned the theiving reporter but apparently did not arrest him, for some odd reason. It is not clear where the reporter was employed.
