Travel agents who are boycotting Bahamasair tickets are preparing for a showdown with the airline’s bosses tomorrow.
The agents said yesterday they anxiously await a meeting with Bahamasair chairman Basil Sands and other government officials to discuss the airline’s move to reduce commissions for Bahamian agents but not their Florida counterparts.
They have described the decision as an ”insult”.
Managing director of Bahamasair, Paul Major, told The Tribune yesterdasy that they were discussing the situation as he spoke and that Mr Sands had invited agents to a meeting tomorrow to resolve the problem.
Also, in a press release on Saturday, Mr Major reminded the public that only some travel agencies were engaging in the boycott of Bahamasair tickets.
In the press release, Mr Major also said some travel agents were telling customers they were being prevented from selling Bahamasair’s tickets and that Bahamasair flights were not available, but they could book them on another airline.
Mr Major said he would like to remind the travelling public that they can simplify their ticket purchases by going on to Bahamasair.com, Expedia, Travelocity, Orbitz, or other travel websites.
