Police Supt. Marvin Dames says that over the past week there has been an “increase in instances of armed robbery”.
- A 63-year-old woman of Centerville was robbed of $50 in cash on Saturday, about 3:30pm, by a man armed with a pair of scissors.
- Sixty-two-year-old Clarence Knowles was shot in the right jaw during the robbery of 17 Needles Inn Restaurant on Saturday afternoon.
- On Friday, at 8:45pm, City Market Food Store on Village Road was robbed by three men, one of whom was armed with a gun.ᅠ
- On Friday night, at 7:30pm, Value Convenience Store at Balliou Hill and John Road was robbed by a man who entered the store with a knife.
- On Saturday, at about 10:30pm at Strachan STreet, a 27-year-old man fought off a would-be robber who approached him at the community water pump. The maskedᅠman was armed with a gun.
- Tyrone Haven, of Charles Vincent Street, reported to police that he was involved in an argument with a man he knew in the area of Sparkle’s Car wash.ᅠ After the argument the man’s cousin shot Mr. Haven in the leg.
- A man walked in front of Timothy Fowler’s car, at a night club on Fox Hill Road, on Sunday at 3:20amᅠand fired a shot through the windshield. The man was known by Mr. Fowler and the incident originated from an earlierᅠdisturbance in the club.
