ATHENS, Greece – Debbie Ferguson cemented her position as one of the best sprinters in the world when she won the Olympic medal that had eluded her her for the last two games.
In her specialty in the women’s 200 metre final on Wednesday night at the Olympic Stadium, Ferguson ran a season’s best of 22.30 seconds to win the bronze, one night after Tonique Williams-Darling celebrated with the gold in the 400.
But as Ferguson said in a press conference after the race, she was just happy as the oldest member of the field to come out with a medal.
