Frances Cost Bahama Poultry $4 Million In Damages

Bahama Poultry in Grand Bahama sustained significant losses when hurricane Frances ripped through Grand Bahama. Bahama Poultry which became the largest poultry producer following the unhappy departure of Gladstone Farms in 2001 ironically as the result of a hurricane, invested $4 million to meet the demand.

Following the devastation, Bahama Poultry discovered it had lost 650,000 broilers and 100,000 layers.

The farm was located on Grand Bahamaᄡs north coast, which took the brunt of Francesᄡ wrath. Tidal surges drowned 750,00 birds while the winds simply blew away most of the buildings.

It is estimated that Frances will cost Bahama Poultry between $3.7 million and $4million.
