Shootings Involving Nassau Police

The weekend saw two police-related shootings, one armed robbery of a semor citizen and an incident of grievous harm.

The first police-related shooting took place on Friday at 8:15pm at the Esso Service Station on Village and Soldier Road.

Police were asked to help when people observed two men allegedly carrying a firearm tucked into his waistband, on two trail motorbikes at the service station.

As two police officers approached the bikers, a confrontation ensued and the armed man jumped on his vehicle and sped off.

Before leaving, however, the man turned and waved his firearm in the direction of the police officers

As a result the two police officers – “in fear for their life” – opened fire, Chief Supt. Hulan Hanna reported.

As a result the suspect fell off his bike but quickly remounted and fled the scene.
