Tourists in Nassau were being forced to cut short their visits yesterday to avoid getting caught in the approaching hurricane.
The British Colonial Hilton recorded 35 early departures yesterday – most of them by 8am. The figure represents more than ten per cent of the hotel’s capacity.
The Hilton’s general manager, Michael Hooper said that as a member of the Bahamas Hotel Association, the Hilton allows guests who cannot make it due to bad weather to put their deposits towards a future stay, or have them refunded.
Those who have to check out early don’t lose out either, he said.
