Bahamas Airport Shaping Up

Barring any other delays such as the recent hurricanes, the Airside Improvement Project at the Nassau International Airport will be completed by July next year, according to the Minister of Transport and Aviation Glenys Hanna-Martin

The project is a part of the Phase 1A redevelopment exercise of the country’s main port of entry.

On May 8 this year, the Northern Ireland firm Lagan Holdings Limited was awarded the $35,000,000 contract to rebuild the main runway, and all exits, as well as the realigment of the main taxiway, which is being realigned to comply with the standards of separation of runways and taxiways.

This realignment will ensure full compliance with the prescribed standards set by the International Civil Aviation Organisation (ICAO) of which the Bahamas is a member.
