The damage to the country from Hurricane Frances ranges from $125 million to $200 million, Prime Minister Perry Christie told Parliament yesterday.
And the figures may increase as government completes its assessment of the damage caused by Hurricane Jeanne, which passed over Grand Bahama and Abaco just a few weeks later.
Prime Minister Christie made the long awaited hurricane communication in the afternoon session of the House of Assembly. The morning session had to be cancelled when technical problems developed in the new state-of-the-art communications system. As a result House proceedings could not be broadcast yesterday.
