The Bahamas tourism industry is expected to receive a much needed boost with the announcement that Spirit Airlines, a leading low-cost carrier, will begin daily non-stop service between Nassau and Fort Lauderdale, with connection to northern US cities, on January 10, 2005.
Marc Cavaliere, Spirit’s vice-president of sales and distribution said Nassau was an important destination for the airline, which would be proactively promoting the Bahamas, and emphasizing its qualities as carrier, including its reliability, affordability and commitment to service.
Travel agents were also expected to pay an important role in the establishment of Spirit, whether assisting in marketing to residents who are hopping to Ft. Lauderdale, business travellers looking for an inexpensive fare into the US, or American travellers on vacation.
