Residents In Land Fight With Bahamas Development Firm

Residents of Bozine Town, Knowles Drive and Harrold Road have vowed that they have no intention of sitting idly by while a local development company attempts to acquire land that they say rightfully belongs to them.

Yesterday, angry residents gathered at Lakeview Church of God of Prophecy to determine their next course of action a day after many received an apparent demand letter from Lockhart, Munroe and Co., which represents the owners of the Harrold Road Land Development Company (LANDCO).

According to Darnell Dorsette, a resident of the area and a spokeswoman for residents, on Saturday residents of Bozine Town and the surrounding areas were served with the letter by an off-duty police officer, Robert Kemp who is a resident of the area.

The letter stated in part that the residents could purchase the portion of land they were located on. However, the residents say they have no intention of repurchasing the land which has been in their families for several decades.
