Two masked gunmen armed with automatic weapons yesterday robbed ScotiaBank’s East Street and Soldier Road branch.
The men escaped with an undisclosed amount of money.
Chief Supt Marvin Dames of the Central Detective Unit said that at about noon, Friday, four men pulled up to the bank in a white Nissan Sentra with heavily-tinted windows.
He said that two of the men then entered the bank and held up a number of tellers. No shots were fired during the robbery
Following the raid the men fled the scene in the Sentra car which police later found abandonded, east of the bank, in the Garden Hills area.
The police have given descriptions of the two suspects. The first suspect had a dark complexion, a slim build and was about 6 ft 1 in tall. He was wearing a camouflage top and a black mask. The second suspect was heavily built and about 5 ft 9 in tall. He was also wearing a black mask.
