Bahamas Student Found Dead In Jamaica

Freeport – Jamaican authoriyies yesterday found the body of 22-year-old Bahamian student Darius Burrows in the Mandeville area, dashing all hope of his safe return to his family in Grand Bahama. Mr. Burrows had been missing since saturday evening.


Police investigations into the initial missing person’s report and possible kidnapping has now been classified as a murder investigation, Supt. Ione Ramsey of Central Police Station Headquarters in Kingston, Jamaica told The Tribune.


Supt. Ramsey said police are actively pursuing very “good” leads in the matter, which are being investigated by a number of police teams, including officers from the Special organised Crime Unit and CIB who are working together with officers in the various other parishes on the island.


The Tribune has learned that Jamaican police have obtained surveillance footage of a possible suspect, who was seen withdrawing money from Burrows’ ATM card at the Scotiabank branch at Mandeville.
