BEC and union members have resolved certain issues which could have led to island-wide blackouts in the weeks leading up to and including the Christmas holdays.
Under the oversight of the Department of Labour, members of the Bahamas Electrical Workers Union (BEWU) and the management of the Bahamas Electricity Corporation met to discuss outstanding matters.
The specific issues that had been resolved were not made public. However, Minister of Labour and Immigration Vincent Peet said the “atmosphere has now changed” and there is no longer the danger of of industrial action during the holidays.
