FNM Leadership Challenge

Montagu MP Brent Symonette may be among the contenders challenging Tommy Turnquest for theFNM leadership when the party meets in convention next spring, The Tribune has learned from reliable sources.

Sources close to the party revealed yesterday that following the FNM’s conclave held at the weekend, a key concern will be assembling the “perfect team” to lead the party into the 2007 general election.

According to the source, who spoke on condition of anonymity, if the party is to regain the government “the question of leadership will obviously have to be addressed”.

There is a lot of speculation that Mr. Turnquest’s leadership will be challenged at the party’s convention, scheduled for May 2005.
