Taylor Recycling in Montgomery, which has developed a method for recycling of construction and demolition materials and household recyclables, appears to be the leading contender to be hired to handle all of the waste reduction in the Commonwealth of the Bahamas.
The parliamentary secretary and junior minister of the Ministry of Health and Environment is in Orange County this week, meeting with company president James Taylor and going over their processes.
Secretary Ron Pinder said if they hire Taylor, the company would handle two components of their waste process. モTo take over the C&D operation with the view of recycling 97 percent of the C&D waste that comes into our landfill,ᄡ he said. モThe second phase is the waste to energy plant with the view of selling that energy to the Bahamas Electricity Corporation.メ
The Commonwealth is faced with serious problems of underground fires at existing landfills. Those facilities are also running out of space, so there is a need to remediate the existing landfill problems and develop new sources of resource recovery.
Orange County Partnership President Maureen Halahan, who attended a briefing with local and county business officials yesterday, said Taylorᄡs operation is モputting us on the map.メ
