A suspect in Wednesday’s Spanish Wells bank robbery has been captured, police say.
However, none of the stolen money has been recovered, and other suspects remain on the loose.
An officer at the Lower Bogue Police Station in North Eleuthera told The Tribune yesterday that police have one suspect in custody in connection with Wednesday’s mid-morning robbery of the Spanish Wells branch of the Royal Bank of Canada.
Police launched a manhunt for the three men who are reported to have arrived on the island of Spanish Wells by boat on Wednesday morning.
The men are said to have robbed the bank and escaped with an undisclosed amount of money and escaped by boat in the direction of nearby North Eleuthera.
The men took a bank employee hostage but later released her.
The gang was followed by locals in four or five boats to the Bogue area of North Eleuthera where their boat was discovered empty.
