Hotel and allied members of The Bahamas Hotel Association and golfers teamed up recently to raise $10,000 toward hurricane relief for Grand Bahama and Bimini. A record 91 golfers participated in The Bahamas Hotel Association’s annual fundraising golf tournament held recently at the Cable Beach Golf Course.
“This is the second year in a row that we were able to direct funds from the annual tournament to hurricane relief. We want to thank all of our members, the golfers, as well as other businesses which came out to make this tournament a success,” states Bahamas Hotel Association President Earle Bethell.
The golf tournament has grown in stature and participation since it was first established in 1999. The funds generated are generally used to support BHA’s education and training efforts but in light of this year’s hurricane, funds were directed toward relief efforts.
This year’s first place golfers were Wellington Woodes and Ray Gibson. Second place honors went to Barry Rassin and John Roberston. Third place winners were part of the Peace and Plenty team, A. Sterling and I. Bellas. Fourth place went to James Gomez and Stephen Johnson.
Tournament Chairman hotelier Michael Hooper expressed appreciation to the many businesses, which supported the effort. “Many businesses are supporting relief efforts on a number of fronts this year and we certainly acknowledge and appreciate the support which they have provided to the tournament.
