Atlantis Staff Celebrate

PARADISE ISLAND – With knock out performances by KB, Nita, Ellon Moxey, Nehemiah Hield and The Falcons and the likes; mounds of food and enough games and surprises that would bring out the child in anyone; Kerzner International wowed its employees at its annual Employee Christmas Party on Thursday, December 15. The event, attended by employees from Atlantis, One&Only Ocean Club and Harborside Resort at Atlantis was a smashing success.

Karen Carey, Kerzner International’s Senior Vice President of Human Resources commented that the company and its various departments went to great lengths to ensure that employees have an enjoyable holiday season. “Our employees work so hard during the year and just do a wonderful job to provide some extraordinary experiences for our guests…and this is our way of showing them that we appreciate their efforts,” Carey stated.

Like previous years, the Employee Talent Show proved to be a crowd pleaser as some of Kerzner International’s employees put on spectacular performances for their colleagues while competing for fabulous cash prizes. This year’s talent competition featured five groups, of employees impersonating renowned recording artists.

Judging the event were leading pianist and performer Lee Callender; Percy Sweeting, President of the Bahamas Musicians and Entertainers Union; Audley Dean of the Royal Bahamas Police Force Marching Band and Michelle Dames who served as the scorekeeper.

The first performance which featured an impersonation of ‘Al B Sure, Barry White and Al Debarge’ set the pace for the rest of the evening as employees Dario Outten, Donahue Arnette, and Jermaine Brown, thrilled the audience. Awestruck female spectators ran to the stage and handed the men money and flowers.

The next group – ‘Donnie McClurkin and Singers’ which included employees George Wells, Kathleen Porter and Shirley Ferguson sang a beautiful rendition of the gospel song ‘Stand.’

This was followed by ‘The Specialists Group’ from Kerzner International’s Marine Mammals Team which impersonated Missy Elliot, Ciara, Kanye West and Elvis. The group rocked the ballroom with a lively and colourful performance.

The Accounts Department impersonated Vickie Winans with a knockout performance of ‘Shake Your Self Loose.’

They were then followed by ‘Usher and Dancers’ which included employees Ken Culmer, Julian Rolle, Vivian Fernander, Deidre Marshall and Dalton Alex who performed a spectacular dance routine.

‘Vickie Winans and the Accounts Choir’ won the first place prize of $500.00. The second place prize of $300.00 went to ‘Al B Sure, Barry White and Al Debarge’. Third place went to ‘The Specialists’ who were presented with a $200.00 cash prize.

Kerzner International’s employees gave the Christmas party two thumbs up for the entertainment, food and prizes. Staff members got an opportunity to win hundreds of prizes including a DVD Home Theater System, bedding, children’s toys, canned goods and lots more while playing scores of games, such as Mini golf, Hoola Hoop, Stand It, Kool Pool and much more. In fact the Bingo table game was a hot spot for many employees who crowded this area of the ballroom.

“I won basically all of the items on the table. The salt, coconut milk, tuna, everything,” beamed Chuck Weech of the Resort Call Centre with his bags all full.

Tanya Knowles, of the Pastry Shop was one of many employees that was spotted having a great time dancing away at the party. “I am having a ball. The music is okay, the food is good…it’s nice and hot and the service is excellent…,” said Knowles.

“I am really impressed with the entire atmosphere of the party and the effort taken to ensure that all employees have an enjoyable time,” said Charmaine Marshall of Harborside Resort at Atlantis.

Camille Fields, Employee Events Manager pointed out that the event could not have been a success without the efforts of a number of departments. Fields, said, “Kerzner International’s annual Employee Christmas party underscores the company’s commitment to its employees who play a vital role in ensuring the success of the company. We have a wonderful team of employees and we are more than happy to hold this special event for them each year.”
