Mr. Fuhrmann, a crusader for justice who has waged a ten year war on the Bahamian legal mafia, was arrested under ridiculous charges in Nassau, Bahamas yesterday.
The affable German investor has evidence that he was ripped-off by a Bahamian lawyer in a real estate case and claims he has been ignored by the Bahamas legal community ever since he filed a complaint with the Bahamas Bar Association.
Yesterday, the unnecessary pomp and pageantry of the opening of the legal year was interrupted when Mr. Fuhrmann attempted to deliver a “Sour Lemons” award to Attorney General Alfred Sears during the church service held to commemorate the opening of the official legal year at Christ Church Cathedral.

Anti-Bahamas activist Harald Fuhrmann tries to hand over a “Sour Lemons” award to Attorney General and Minister of Education Alfred Sears during the church service attended by Justices, Magistrates and Members of The Bar to mark the Opening of The Legal Year at Christ Church Cathedral on Wednesday, January 11, 2006.
Mr Fuhrmann, who prior to the incident was seen pacing at the back of the church for some time, eventually made his way to the front of the church and handed Mr Sears what appeared to be a cylindrical object. According to witnesses, Mr Sears looked puzzled by the object and placed it on the pew next to him.
Despite the harmless nature of Mr. Fuhrmanns’ attempt to get much deserved attention from the Bahamas legal community, Police Superintendent Burkie Wright told a local newspaper that police escorted Mr. Fuhrman out of the church.
Once outside and surrounded by police, Mr Fuhrmann demanded to speak to the media, saying his rights had been violated. He claimed that the “sour lemon award” symbolised the fact that “the entire legal system in the country stank“.
According to Mr. Wright, Mr. Fuhrman could face prosecution for an obscure offence known as disturbing a place of divine worship. Mr. Fuhrman, who has alleged that Bahamian officials have not assisted him in recovering money which he reportedly lost in investments in this country, was taken to the Central Police Station.
Mr Fuhrmann, who is determined to find justice in the property case dating back ten years, has deemed the Bahamas “the axis of evil and the tourist trap.”
Late last year, German Harald Fuhrmann begun a road tour down the east coast of the United States to dissuade Americans from visiting or investing in the Bahamas.
