The St. Georges Jaguars emerged the winners in Saturday´s Junior Junkanoo Parade in downtown Freeport, winning with a total of 3,166 points.
The school had been absent from the parade for three years.
Winning in grand fashion, students of St. Georges celebrated the victory in all four categories: originality, general impression, music, and costume and dance. They also secured the coveted award for the best banner.
Coming in second in the secondary division was Eight Mile Rock High, which got 614 points; and Jack Hayward High, placed third with 572 points.
Ten schools demonstrated their resilience bouncing back from setbacks created by Hurricane Wilma.
Four-time champions, Walter Parker Primary will reign for another year. The school took home the crown in the primary school ‘A´ division, with 3,057 points. Martin town came in second with 2,133 points.
St Paul´s Methodist College, which made its first appearance in the Junior Junkanoo Parade, secured 2,400 points for its efforts.
In the primary school ‘B´ division, Lewis Yard Primary took home the crown with 2,078 points; St. Vincent de Paul came in second with 2,041 points; and High Rock Primary secured third position with 1,430 points.
One pre-school was represented in the parade: Kinder Care with 33 pre-school participants securing 1,050 points.
