At a press conference at Criminal Detective Unit on Thompson Boulevard late last night, police said that, at approximately 8pm, Hepburn was found hiding out in a building in Coral Harbour. Police said they also found a small amount of marijuana in the building.
Officer-in-charge of CDU Marvin Dames, told eager members of the press that Hepburn was sought by plainclothes officers who were acting on intelligence. Mr Dames said the recapture occurred in a matter of minutes and-was uneventful. Hepburn was taken into custody and first transported to the Carmichael Road police station and then to the CDU for further inquiries.
Mr Dames did not disclose where Hepburn would be spending the night in custody. He stated that, as police continue their investigation, they look forward to talking to Hepburn and are very interested in what he has to say.
“We are extremely grateful and elated. As soon as this individual escaped we were receiving calls from members of the public all over New Providence who were volunteering information to us as to his whereabouts, “Mr Dames said.
Corey Hepburn, along with three other inmates, escaped from prison on January 17.
One of the inmates was killed and the other two were immediately recaptured. During the escape, prison officer Dion Bowles was murdered and two other officers were injured.
