Hotel Employee Kidnapped and Robbed

Police Press Liaison Officer Inspector Walter Evans said Tuesday that around one o’clock in the afternoon on Monday, a female employee of Quality Inn on Nassau Street was on her way to make a bank deposit, when she was abducted.

Insp Evans explained that the lady had a deposit bag in her possession, when she was approached by a gunman who took the bag from her and forced her into the trunk of a blue Acura vehicle.

She told police that the car drove for what felt like 45 minutes before making a stop. The car was discovered in the Chippingham area at Providence Avenue, where the robber had abandoned the car with the female trapped in the trunk. She screamed out alerting a passer-by, who assisted in her removal from the trunk. The police were also notified and the female was taken to hospital for treatment.

Insp Evans said that the matter remains under police investigation. In another incident, police are looking for a group of men who attacked a 49-year-old man early Tuesday morning. Police received a report that just after 12 o’clock in the morning yesterday, the man was in the area of East Street South, when he was attacked by a group of men. He was beaten about the body which led to his subsequent hospitalisation. Insp Evans said that he was listed in serious condition.

Such matter is also under police investigation.
