Driver Shot, Car Stolen

Police Press Liaison Officer Walter Evans said, around 8:00 yesterday morning at The Faith Plaza on Cowpen Road, the man believed to be in his mid 20’s had just stepped out of his 1992 green Honda Accord, when two armed culprits approached him. Insp Evans said several shots were then fired and the man was hit in the lower left leg. An ambulance was called to the scene and he was taken to the hospital, where he is being treated and his condition is said to be “not life threatening.”

Insp Evans also said the two men fled the scene in the victim’s car, registration number 113310.

A 65-year-old man remains in hospital, after he was caught in a fiery blaze at his house.

Insp Evans said around 7:30 Wednesday night, the Fire Services Unit was called to the scene of a fire, where a single story, seven bedroom wooden house in the McCullough Corner area, was on fire. After the crew extinguished the fire from the house that was “extensively damaged,” he added, firemen searching through the debris, found the man lying face down in the kitchen area. Emergency medical personnel were called in and the man was transported to the hospital, where he was listed in serious condition. The wooden structure, Insp Evans said, is home to nine people: six adults and three children. He added that preliminary investigations could not determine if the man was home alone, or what could have caused the fire.
