Now the Chief Operating Officer of the multi-million dollar, 260-acre, tourism-based, residential development along the western shore of New Providence, Mr Mortimer shares his achievement with few.
He is also manager of Old Fort Bay Property Owners Association and financial controller of the New Providence Development Company.
In 2002, Mr Mortimer was asked by Orjan Lindroth of Lindroth Development Company (LDC) to put together a team to run Old Fort Bay Club. LDC designed and ran the development of Old Fort Bay Club for its owners, the New Providence Development Company (NPDC).
Mr Mortimer was identified by Mr Lindroth as the ideal person to build Old Fort Bay Club because of his talent and experience and background in accounting, food and beverage.
“I believe that one of the pluses that I brought to the table was that I was able to develop the Club into an operation that matches the lustre of the environment, and critical to that was putting together the right team. We’re in an environment where we see the same people all the time, so we have to be consistent and we have to do it at a high level,” said Mr Mortimer.
Mr Mortimer has a diploma in Hotel Management from the Bahamas Hotel training College, and the English equivalent to a BA in Hotel Management from Shannon College of Hotel Management in Ireland.
