Shot Man Charged With Rape And Armed Robbery

After being released from hospital recovering from a gunshot wound the 26-year-old was charged before Magistrate Renay McKay on a number of offences.

One charge alleged that he engaged in sexual intercourse with a a female of 49 years with out her consent. On the same date, police say that he took her and detained her by force against her will.

Another charge alleged that he raped a 36-year-old woman and also detained her without her consent. An armed robbery charge for the same day alleged that while armed with a handgun he robbed one of the women of a DVD player, assorted DVD’s, assorted clothing, tennis shoes, a Motorola cell phone and a Honda Acura car licence plate 55964 valued at $6,684.

In addition, he allegedly robbed the second female of a gold watch and a Bahamas Government work permit valued at $550.

Roxbury was not required to plead to any of those charges and a preliminary inquiry will commence on September 26 to determine whether there is sufficient evidence for him to be put on trial in the Supreme Court.

He was also accused of breaking into the home of Vania Knowles between December 13, 2005 and December 16, 2005.

It is alleged that he stole a Gray Toshiba laptop computer, one gold and diamond, Movado watch, a tennis bracelet, one gold and diamond bracelet, a rope chain, a Hugs and Kisses bracelet set, one oval diamond ring and a pair of Oakleys shades, altogether valued at $9,500.

On March 20, police say that he broke into the home of Leonardo Godet and stole one St. Augustine’s ring, a hand chain, another ring, a gold chain, one black and gold Movado watch and $300 cash.

The items were altogether valued at $1,060. He pleaded not guilty to those four charges. The case is set to continue on September 25.

Before being charged in court, Roxbury told police, “Don’t try to solve ya’ll case on me.”

Inspector Bradley Sands prosecuted.

Also appearing in court was Dorian Levar Russell of Nassau Village. The 28-year-old was accused of murdering Adrian Roker on April 6. He appeared before Chief Magistrate Roger Gomez where he was not required to plead to the charge. Russell was also denied bail and remanded to Her Majesty’s Prison.
