Police on Sunday disclosed the identity of the person believed to be responsible for the fatal shooting last Thursday of 23-year-old Eric McGregor, even as they reported on yet another shooting death in the country.
Police Inspector Walter Evans said the latest homicide occurred around 11 oï¾’clock Saturday night in the Apple Street area, located off Wulff Road, during a visit by the victim to a female acquaintance.
Police reports indicate that the victim left the acquaintance to go to a store to purchase some items, but upon his return he encountered two men. The men approached the victim, the female fled the scene and a short time later shots were fired, Mr. Evans said.
The victim was reportedly shot in the back and collapsed on the porch of a nearby house.
Inspector Evans said the victim had not yet been identified, however, he was believed to be in his early twenties.
Police also reported yesterday that they are looking for 38-year-old Edward Taylor.
Inspector Evans said Taylor is wanted in connection with the death of McGregor outside of the Pond Wash laundromat last week.
Taylor is believed to frequent the Golden Gates and Sunshine Park areas.
Apprising the public of technical adjustments that will be made to the 919 emergency number today between 9am and 5pm, police indicated that persons in need of emergency services may not be able to access them between the mentioned hours.
