Ghevents is an upcoming company owned and operated by a team of young, ambitious men. They are Kenneth Moncur, Davon Knight and Sam Grey who are trying to add a new flavour to Nassau's nightlife.
"We formed Ghevents to add a new party scene to Nassau, one that includes making sure our party-goers have somewhere to go on Tuesday nights," says Mr Moncur who spoke with entrepreneurial enthusiasm. The company is located at Blue Door Studios in the Signature Styles building on Marathon Road.
The company offers their services by way of event planning, bookings, advertising and marketing, company re-launches, branding and street promotions. Mr Moncur says that one of the signature events that his organisation will be hosting in association with Heineken and Carlo Rossi is called 10.10. 220 and will be hosted at Club Nirvana on Tuesday nights beginning on the May 2. On this night VIP guest will be served peach cobblers, fruit salads, etc. the atmosphere will be rife with bubbles and the ten 10.10.220 girl hostesses…and our host for the nights…Dadi Renzi with music by DJ A.J. will keep the club alive and jumping. Also featured is a Carlo Rossi Hot Body Competition every Tuesday. Five to 10 hand picked ladies will be entered to win $250 every Tuesday leading up to the finals where she can win $1,000 and the title, Ms Nirvana Peach. Mr Moncur says that there will also be give-aways of cell phones, gas vouchers, and GSM cards.
Though a relatively young company, Mr Moncur says that Ghevents has already done some promotions in the United States and that they covered at least two years in Fort Lauderdale and Orlando Florida.
He says that they have brought artistes such as Lil Wayne, Ja Rule, Trina and Trick Daddy to The Bahamas and were also involved with a talent show.
"Since we've decided to start making moves in the Bahamas, each and everyone has been lending their supportive hand," says Mr Moncur who states that his partners and he are deeply appreciative and always like to tell supporters thank you. He added that without support it is hard to survive sometimes even impossible.
"In every business there are pitfalls, but you must go through them to learn how the business works," says Mr Moncur.
He adds that you must make mistakes, you must take risks and only then will you earn and deserve everything you get when the company is successful. As for a definite formula for success, Mr Moncur says that Ghevents prides itself on communication, networking, planning and execution. He says that everything they plan must be different and memorable and that planning plays a great part in this.
He reiterated that any event associated with Ghevent is well planned.
To people who are interested in this type of business, Mr Moncur says that they should plan, also do research and make sure that the business is something that they would like to get into.
He adds that if you like to socialise and network with people then this is the right place for you.
He further states that this type of business runs on risks and connections, risks and pure gut instinct at the drop of a dime so be prepared for trial and error.
