New Chub Cay Megayacht Marina Opens Next Month

The new, expanded multi-million dollar marina at Chub Cay Marina & Resort in the Bahamas is opening Thursday, June 15, 2006, for members of the Chub Cay Club, guests, and transients and will accommodate yachts up to 200 feet.

“The marina is truly the heart and soul of Chub Cay where sportfishermen and yachtsmen alike from around the world have gathered and socialized for decades,” said Kaye Pearson, Chairman of Chub Cay Club Associates — owners and developers of the island . Pearson is also Chairman of International Marinas, the company responsible for designing, renovating and managing the new marina. “We’ve taken great care in preserving the warm and welcoming atmosphere, while significantly upgrading the quality and capacity.”

The former 96-slip facility was closed a year ago in order for the site to undergo major renovations and expansion, including the dredging of the entire marina and channel to 12-ft. (at low tide) and the installation of state-of-the-art concrete floating docks. More than 100 slips will be available when the marina opens in June. When fully completed, the Marina will include over 200 slips.

Sleek new docks await yachtsmen

The newly built concrete floating docks from Bellingham Marine, are sleek and functional with all components completely out of sight. All power cabling has been concealed and power pedestals placed out of pathways. The main piers will range from eight feet to fifteen feet in width, while finger piers will be five feet to eight feet wide.

Full service marina operation, Bahamian dining and more

While construction and renovations on the island continue, the new marina will be fully operational. Fuel will be readily available and customs/immigration will be easily accessible upon entry.

Chub Cay Club members and visitors can enjoy Bahamian dining in the existing Harbour House. Just adjacent is the marina pavilion where the Ships Store is located along with the Registration and Information Office.
