Oh Baby! What A Way To Travel

Babies can, as all parents know, be a handful. When the whole family takes off on vacation they can turn a rest into a pressure zone.

Now parents travelling to The Bahamas with their off-spring will benefit from a commercial link announced yesterday between Atlantis on Paradise Island and Johnson’s (R).

The two organisations have set-up Gentle Travel so that when mum and dad and baby arrive on holiday they can have the use of a personalized travel kit with tips from a renowned paediatrician, Dr Jennifer Trachtenberg. The kit includes a specially chosen nightlight, bedtime cream and, wait for it, a lullaby CD. With their own player, of course.

The idea behind the scheme is to help families enjoy a vacation and maintain their routine while away from home.

The programme will begin at Atlantis on June 1, the start of what some are predicting to be one of the busiest travel seasons.

According to a new national survey of 1,001 parents conducted by Johnson’s (R) and Atlantis in conjunction with BabyCenter.com, the biggest concern for parents is having to carry all of the products and equipment needed to care for their baby.

Seven out of 10 parents surveyed find it particularly difficult to settle kids down after an exciting day. “As a pediatrician, I often hear from parents about the stresses of travel, and as mother of three, I have been there myself,” said Dr Jennifer Trachtenberg, the pediatrician who developed the tips.

The hotel also has a new prompt response line so parents can order anything they need for babies-extra crib sheets, baby bathtubs, bottle warmers, sterilizers, strollers and small refrigerators. “Last year, we serviced more than 6,500 cribs at Atlantis.

“As a leader in family travel, we recognized this rapidly growing and important guest demographic required our special attention,” said George Markantonis, President and Managing Director, Kerzner International.
