The Cookie Song

I don’t know if Cookie Monster eats these kinds of cookies, but there is a young new artist who is making a song about cookies pretty famous around Nassau town. The Cookie Song isn’t talking about Chocolate Chip, Macadamia Nut, Oreo or Oatmeal and Raisin cookies. The cookies he’s talkin’ about are serious, man.

They are cookies that everyone is familiar with, but you will get the idea that they are not the ones that Pillsbury Doughboy bakes.

Mind you, the singer G-Mac, who is from Canada, has a valid point about “cookies” but maybe his lyrics are a bit too raw, as he glorifies the most intimate physical attribute of a woman. This goes beyond reminding your sweetie of your car, or wanting to lick somebody up and down until they say stop. This fella is hungry and is telling you exactly what he wants to eat “in the morning before I go to work, in the evening when I get home from work and in the night before I go to bed.”

The thing is, you would not mind if G-Mac could not sing well. It would be easier to just ignore it, but G-Mac really can sing!!! So instead I found myself rolling over in stitches every time I heard the song because this guy sings with so much passion. He is passionate about the cookie and how much he likes cookie and what he wants to do with it. I am totally scared of this guy. Literally terrified.

My friends and I only concluded that someone must have baked some serious cookies for him one night, because G-Mac has three versions of The Cookie Song – Reggae, R & B, and Caribbean mixes.

Now the big question is, while all is well and good if you want to play “The Cookie Song” in the privacy of your own home or bedroom, can this song be played on the radio?

According to the website www.gmacontakeoff.com, G-Mac’s songs are being played on radio stations 102.9, More 94.5 FM and 100 Jamz. He has more songs that I have heard that sound really good. As I said before, the brother aint short on talent. He can sing. But he must have some serious nerve to be singing about cookies so boldly.

It is also evident that Mr Cookie, as he is affectionately called, became a big hit with Spring Breakers in Nassau, Miami and New York.

G-Mac recently filmed his first video for the new single CD, The Cookie Song, at an official launch party at the Pirates of Nassau along with The Bahamas’ very own New Sensation Band. Not only that, he also became the “official live entertainment” of March Break 2000-SeX at a number of clubs in Nassau, and for Student City and other tour groups filled with university and college students. The video says it all.

G-Mac is also being featured on the TV show Nitro, which airs on Cable 12. You can see an up-close and personal interview with Mr Cookie and hear him sing the cookie song live and in living colour. Seeing is believing. He did it!!!

The word is that Mr Cookie will be back in town next month probably with some milk to go with those cookies…….ohhhhh I don’t know, man. Don’t blame me. That’s just what the song says.
