Yahoo launched a redesign of its popular Internet home page at www.yahoo.com, displaying a more prominent section for Web searches and reconfiguring its display menu, a Reuters report said.
Yahoo, one of the original Internet portals with over 100 million unique visitors per month, faces stiff competition from the search capabilities of Google, the report also said.
The company is also competing for attention against a crop of newer social networking sites, such as MySpace.com, that allow users an easy way to manage photos, videos and personal blogs online.
The company said it has added features including a Personal Assistant which displays recent messages from Yahoo! Mail and weather among other things. Another new feature is Yahoo! Pulse which touts new trends on the Web.
