Body Found In Truck On Potter’s Cay

The unidentified man was found at about 7am in an upright position in a red Nissan truck at the northern end of the entry causeway, police reported.

Foul play is not suspected.

“It is believed that this male is probably in his mid 50s and is believed to be a resident of East New Providence,” said Inspector Walter Evans, Press Liaison Officer.

An autopsy is expected to be performed this week to determine the exact cause of death.

In other crime news:

Police are investigating an altercation that broke out yesterday between two cyclists and the driver of a red Ford Taurus.

The disagreement took place around 11am at Meadow and Augusta Streets.

Inspector Evans reported that one of the cyclists sustained injuries to the left leg and left arm.

He was taken to hospital for treatment but his condition was unknown up to press time yesterday.

The driver of such red Ford Taurus was taken into police custody.

* A man in his early 20s died while swimming on Love Beach on Friday just after 7pm, police said.

Police believed he may have drowned. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Foul play is not suspected.

* Sara’s Drug Store in the Golden Gates Shopping Plaza was robbed shortly after 8pm Sunday, police said. According to reports, a dark man, armed with a silver handgun, entered the establishment and approached the cashier. He demanded cash from the clerk, who handed over an undisclosed amount of money to the robber.

The man, who was dressed in a blue shirt and colourful shades, fled the scene in a light coloured Nissan Sentra.

* On Sunday around 9am, officers from the airport police station were conducting routine searches when they discovered a quantity of drugs. According to police reports, one kilo of cocaine was found in a bag believed to be the property of a passenger who travelled from Haiti later Saturday evening.

Police have arrested two men, a 38-year-old and a 28-year-old, both believed to be of Haitian descent.

Police investigations in such matters are ongoing.
