Water sports operators are already thinking about what will become of them when Baha Mar is completed, one seasoned vendor told Tribune Business yesterday, while Baha Mar officials say they haven’t given the activity end of the development any thought as yet.
Renwick Rolle, president of JR Action Water Sports, said he and the other vendors who service the Baha Mar properties, are hoping for the government to give the project a green light.
According to him, if the project can generate the kind of occupancies its developers hope to achieve, it will be an amazing increase in business for the 10 or more jetski, parasail and boat rental operators who make their living on Baha Mar’s shores.
Robert “Sandy” Sands, vice president of external affairs for Baha Mar, said while his organisation has not yet broached the issue of the vendors as a part of the development’s final product, “we will certainly have to address it”.
Mr Sands said Baha Mar has thus far only focused its resources on the developmental side of the project, which could get started by year end.
“We haven’t given that (water sports) any thought as yet,” he said. “We haven’t been focusing on the operations side of the new Baha Mr as yet.”
