Happy photos could be bringing amateur photographers – anyone who picks up a camera and digitally grabs a grin or silly face — more than smiles over the next several weeks. Winning HAPPY PICS will net lucky local photographers more than $10,000 in prizes.
Announcement of the HAPPY PICS contest was made today by Caribbean Bottling Company (Bahamas) Ltd. (CBC), local bottler of Coca-Cola in The Bahamas.
“At Coca-Cola, we firmly believe that emotional health is as important as physical health and that happiness goes hand-in-hand with productivity and purpose in life,” said Michelle Lewis, Marketing Manager, CBC. “That is why we are very pleased today to launch HAPPY PICS, a contest designed to spread happiness. The contest will run for eight weeks beginning Wednesday, September 8. It’s so easy to enter. Capture a moment that is happy, silly, grinning, anything that is feel-good. Save it as a jpg or tiff and log on to www.cocacolahappypics.com, enter your name and upload your photo to the site. Winners will be chosen weekly. It’s all part of Coca-Cola’s Open Happiness campaign and we believe there are more reasons than ever to share the moments that make us happy.”
Winners will walk away with prizes ranging from iPod Nanos to digital cameras, 15.6′ laptops, PSP 3000 Core Pack, to 32-inch LCD TV screens, dock clock radios for iPods and iPhones to PC notebooks and Coca-Cola products.
“A panel of judges will choose the winners, but the public will also have a chance to vote on the people’s choice for the extraordinary prize, making everyone win because it’s all about happiness and inspiring positive feelings,” said Ms. Lewis.
Open Happiness was launched as Coca-Cola’s integrated global marketing campaign in January, 2009, airing on American Idol and later during Super Bowl Sunday. It has been supported with events, advertising and adventurous treks including the three Happiness Ambassadors who stopped in Nassau last week during their round-the-world expedition sharing and exploring the meaning of happiness in different cultures.
When Open Happiness was introduced in the 206 countries and territories where Coca-Cola is sold, the international company’s Chief Marketing and Commercial Leadership Officer Joe Tripoldi said it re-affirmed the Coke’s umbrella of positive living. “Even with the difficulties and stress of modern-day life there still are opportunities, every day, to find a moment to recognize life’s simple pleasures. This new campaign reminds people that Coke is always there to offer that small moment of fun and refreshment when you need it.”
Contest sponsor, Caribbean Bottling Co., is the Non-Alcoholic Ready to Drink (NARTD) market leader with a variety of products and packages that include the Coca-Cola brand portfolio, Fanta, Schweppes, Barq’s Root Beer, Bahamas Goombay Punch, Barritt’s Ginger Beer, Fruit Flavored Juices, Frozen Cocktail Mixers, Dasani Water, Campbell’s V8 Juices, Minute Maid Juices and Glaceau Vitamin Water.
