A New Providence man was reportedly the victim of a late night ambush on Tuesday, after police said he was allegedly pulled from a parked car by a group of men who shot him twice in the upper body.
According to Superintendent Leon Bethell, head of the Central Detective Unit (CDU), the incident unfolded around 10 p.m. at the intersection of Carmichael Road and McKinney Drive.
Mobile officers who were patrolling the area at the time responded to the call that came into the police Control Room about the incident, said Bethell.
“Officers responded and found a man there whom they spoke to,”said Bethell.
“He reported that he was at the junction when a group of men pulled him out of a parked vehicle and fired shots at him.
Bethell said the victim was struck in the head and upper back. He added that Emergency Medical Services personnel transported the victim to the Princess Margaret Hospital (PMH) where he was listed in serious condition up to press time last night.
More than 12 hours after the incident occurred, Bethell said details surrounding the shooting were still sketchy.
He added that it was unclear what led to the near-fatal shooting or if the victim knew his attackers.
