Two officers from Fox Hill Prison were granted bail on Friday, despite being charged with possession of marijuana with intent to supply.
Simorne Roberts, 29, of Malcolm Allotment, and Clorado Mackey, 28, of Dignity Gardens, were found in possession of five pounds of marijuana on September 29. The two men were arraigned before Deputy Chief Magistrate Carolita Bethell in Court 8, Bank Lane, on marijuana possession charges.
Authorities believed they intended to distribute the drugs.
Both men pleaded not guilty to the charge. They were represented by attorneys Devard Francis and Calvin Seymour.
It was revealed in court that Mr Roberts had been a prison officer for four years and that Mr Mackey had been employed as a prison officer for five years. Both men were granted bail in the sum of $10,000 with two sureties and were ordered to report to their nearest police station every Saturday before 6pm. The case has been adjourned to December 6.
