Tracy Davis, the only one of nine straw vendors who pleaded guilty after being arrested in New York on counterfeiting charges, has been released.
Ms Davis was sentenced by Judge Richard Sullivan to time served – 17 days – on the condition that she leave the United States within 24 hours.
Prior to her sentencing, Ms Davis pleaded with the court for mercy. telling the judge she was “very sorry” for what she had done.
MP Fred Mitchell and the Bahamas Consul General were present in the court room as was Ms Davis’ family.
The other eight straw vendors pleaded not guilty and therefore may not be treated as leniently.
