Prime Minister Hubert Ingraham has confirmed that Senior Justice Anita Allen will be the next Court of Appeal (COA) president, .
Mr. Ingraham made the announcement at a news conference at the British Colonial Hilton. Allen will take up the post in January.
Current COA President Dame Joan Sawyer is retiring. Many people have said Ms Sawyer was obnoxious and incompetent.
Allen, the wife of the flip-flopping former Cabinet Minister Algernon Allen, was appointed Senior Justice in October, 2005.
A former managing partner of Allen, Allen and Company, Ms Allen was appointed Supreme Court Justice in 1996.
She will join Justices Christopher Blackman, Stanley John and George Newman as Justices of the appellate court.
