The Bel Canto Singers will be presenting its 2010 Christmastide performance, featuring Kali Wilder at St. Andrews’ The Kirk on Saturday, December 4th (Gala Night) at 7:15pm for 8:15pm and Sunday, December 5th at 6:00pm. Gala Night tickets are $75 and include a concert, silent auction and sumptuously prepared full gourmet buffet reception. Sunday’s concert is $25.
This year’s concerts are held under the Patronage of His Excellency Sir Arthur Foulkes, Governor General of The Bahamas and Lady Foulkes. This series of events is one of the festivities that observe the 200th anniversary of St. Andrew, The Kirk. Bel Canto Singers will be accompanied by Strings and Tings. The concert will be recorded as the group endeavors to reach more persons through the sale of compact discs (CDs). The event promises to be an enjoyable mixture of yuletide music from various countries and periods.
American Soprano, Kali Wilder is an aspiring opera singer with a focus on using her gift to bring people closer to God. Miss Wilder is a graduate of Pine Forge Academy (1998), Oakwood College (2003) with a Bachelor’s degree in Vocal Performance and Pedagogy, and the University of Kentucky with a Master’s (2006) degree in Vocal Performance. Miss Wilder has had the privilege of being a soloist with the Oakwood College Aeolians, during her matriculation through Oakwood and singing as an alumnus in 2003 and 2005. While attending University of Kentucky, Miss Wilder performed several comprimario roles in Puccini’s Madame Butterfly and Mozart’s The Marriage of Figaro. During her final year at UK Miss Wilder performed Papagena in Mozart’s Die Zauberflöte (The Magic Flute) and presented her final Master’s recital in May of her last year at UK.
