Christmas is in the air! And it’s no further than the highly anticipated annual Authentically?Bahamian Craft?Show. This year, the show that has been traditionally staged in the confines of a hotel, has spilled out into the streets — the city center that is — downtown Nassau between George and Marlborough Streets. And the show will be bigger and better than ever.
The revamped craft show, which takes place today for four consecutive Fridays (today, Friday, December 10, 17 and 24) and three consecutive Saturdays (December 4, 11 and 18) from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. each day is now called the Authentically Bahamian Christmas Craft Festival Craft Festival, and it will be nothing short of amazing. It gets underway with a tree lighting ceremony. Then you are free to peruse and purchase the latest in Bahamian straw work and craft. Actually, it will be a three-weekend street party to remember with Santa, and marching bands, school and church choirs putting in an appearance, all with your entertainment uppermost in their minds.
Straw bags, hats, belts, accessories, shellwork, jewelry, art work, native desserts, pottery, candles and other art work will be available too.?There will also be a live manger scene where kids and adults alike can take pictures and get a feel of what the real Christmas scene was like in Jesus’ time. To sweeten the pot on Saturdays, Santa will put in his appearance just for the little ones and the little ones at heart.
