Just before the holidays each year, the Social Committee at Doctors Hospital makes a decision on which deserving charity within the Bahamian community will receive the proceeds of the committee’s Holiday fund-raising efforts.
Fortunately for Unity House, a nonprofit organization that cares for the elderly, they were found most deserving from amongst a list of possible organizations. Past fund-raising efforts have seen donations to The Children’s Emergency Hostel, the Sister Sister Breast Cancer Group, The Bahamas Red Cross Disaster Relief Fund and The Bahamas Association for the Physically Disabled.
Having found great success with their organized Ice Cream Socials, the committee decided to continue with the ever popular ice-cream fund-raising event and judging from the amount raised, the right decision was made. Taste buds were set delighted with the ever popular flavors of strawberry, rum raisin, butter pecan and vanilla combined with an array of toppings.
Continuing with the generosity of past years, the Executive Team at Doctors Hospital made a decision to match the amount of monies made by the Social Committee. The monies will assist Unity House with providing care for the elderly citizens in their care.
