The Ministry of Agriculture and Marine Resources is pleased to announce the launch of its website at www.bahamas.gov.bs/agriculturemarine.
This marks a milestone in the development of the agricultural industry and is yet another example of our efforts to modernize the sector and make the best use of modern technology.
The site is linked to three other sister sites already established by the Department of Marine Resources, BAIC and the Department of Cooperatives. Each of these websites deals with a specific area of focus and together offer a diverse menu of services. This website is designed to become an important tool in the continued education of Bahamian farmers, as well as in the effective marketing of farm produce and the facilitation of international trade.
The aim is to make the Ministry more easily accessible to the public thus enhancing good governance in the sector and increasing its productivity; and in this regard the public is now advised that all the forms necessary to be filed for services rendered by this Ministry are now available on-line, at this website.
Some of the highlights of the site are contact information for all the key officers in the Ministry, as well production and marketing information, the Acts and Regulations regulating, encouraging and protecting the agricultural industry and notifications of special events such as the Backyard Gardening Programme, and Expo 2011.
