The internal probe into circumstances surrounding an officer-involved shooting that left at least two civilians injured and an officer “reassigned” is reportedly still ongoing, The Freeport News has learned.
Three weeks ago, Senior Assistant Commissioner Quinn McCartney confirmed that the police officer who allegedly discharged his service weapon in the midst of an angry crowd outside the Eight Mile Rock Police Station on New Year’s Eve had been reassigned.
“We have not made a final determination on any wrongdoing. So while the investigation is ongoing, we just decided to move him from the Eight Mile Rock Division,” he told The Free-port News at the time.
The Grand Bahama Police chief revealed that the internal investigation being carried out is to determine if the officer acted in accordance with the policies of the Royal Bahamas Police Force.
