Mario Carey Realty, the luxury real estate leader, held a one day blood drive in an effort to replenish the much needed blood supply at the two local hospitals during its 1st annual MCR Blood Drive.
“We are grateful to all the persons who came out and donated blood,” expressed Mario Carey, president of Mario Carey Realty. “We look forward to the 2nd annual drive and are pleased that we were able to provide an opportunity for the public to give back in a tangible way to the community.”
A collaboration between Mario Carey Realty and Robin Hood Enterprises Ltd., the drive was held at the food stores’ locations on Prince Charles Drive and Harrold Road.
Acknowledging the partnerships with other entities Carey said, “We would not have been able to pull this off without the support of Robin Hood and the other sponsors. I also wish to publicly thank my team at MCR for their unrelenting efforts in organizing this event.”
Addressing a disturbing trend, Carey said, “While there were a number of individuals who signed up and were pre-checked prior to donating, many were turned away due to health related issues including hypertension, low iron and kidney issues. What this drive has done was open our eyes to the poor state that a large portion of our population finds themselves in as it relates to their health. Although willing many were simply unable to.”
All donors received gift certificates for redemption at any Robin Hood location. Names were also drawn for prizes ranging from Galleria Cinemas movie tickets, dinner for two at The Beach Club, gas vouchers, jewellery from John Bull and skin treatments from Facial Touches. Other mentionable sponsors include BahamasLocal.com, the Hatchet Bay Festival Committee and Home Fabrics.
